2.3. ASSIGNING MATERIALS

In order for geometric objects to participate in a daylight model, they must be assigned materials. Materials are collections of properties that inform the raytracing engine — Radiance — how a surface should redirect incident rays of light. Once a material assignment is made, and the surface can properly influence the lighting of a scene, it is referred to as a scene object. There are two workflows for creating scene objects in DIVA for Grasshopper:

  1. Using the Include Rhino Scene option, or
  2. Using the Scene Object component.
